One of the great joys of being a classical guitarist is playing my "Church Door" guitar made by the brilliant luthier of Cordoba, Miguel Rodriguez. I first heard one of these magnificent instruments played at a guitar convention in Texas in the late 70s. I knew immediately that there was something about the sound that I was irresistibly drawn to. I asked the importer George Dauphinais of Springfield Illinois to please notify me if he ever had a Miguel Rodriguez come through his hands. A couple of years later he called me and said he had three in his shop. My wife and I raced over there and I ended up buying the one I still play now. That was 1981. Sadly, Miguel Rodriguez is now deceased and the shop is closed. To hear recordings on this instrument, please go here: Sulaiman Zai
